Marianne Williamson: A Course in Miracles and the Power of Thought

first of all the cor of Miracle says there are only two emotions love and fear the idea of the Mystic Jesus the universal Jesus that is so emerging from the subconscious Waters at this point cannot be monopolized by a religion I've never considered myself a Christian but I've had four incredibly powerful encounters it's time in all the new age spiritualist circles to like allow Jesus to reclaim his place of course a miracle says the resurrection is the return of your right mind you are free to think whatever you want to think what you cannot do is diminish the power of your thought I think everybody's on a spiritual path but most people don't know it the only way we're going to make it is if all of us start ascending to some higher places in our personality like quickly that's a very important thing that you said the EG Peak experience is my pain right right wow I can feel that there is deep pain wake up every morning and it's like being in a back alley and somebody's beating you up your emotional body what lie is going to be said about me politics doesn't make any difference tell that to the million people that we killed in Iraq if you know what changes one heart you're the one who knows how to change the world the next Evolution this is a part of it we have have to allow ourselves to be digitally crucified to whatever degree we are so that we can also go through that transformation but also support what our heart calls us to do [Music] Maryann Williamson is one of the most well-known spiritual teachers of our time she's published 16 books her latest of which is the Mystic Jesus the mind of love and so right here before Christmas we're going to talk about the real essence of Jesus of the Christ and all of the lessons she's learned on the spiritual path as well as tapping into the deep feeling tones of what she experienced in her presidential run so I can't wait to share this podcast with Maryann Williamson Maryann it's such a pleasure to have you here well thank you it's a pleasure to be here absolutely so I want to jump right into the deep end okay when I say the word God now this is a word that for some people creates a lot of different reactions but when I say that word to you what do you feel and what do you understand about about this Essence that we call God to me it's an all-encompassing all intelligent ocean of love Yeah of which we are part you know of course the miracle says you are an idea in the mind of God and that we probably have a problem with the idea that God is an idea we probably have an a problem with the fact that we are ideas but deal with it because once you do everything opens up right mhm I think one of the big challenges that I see personally is people have created a fictitious God and then rightfully discarded that fictitious God is not real but in doing so they're missing the real God that is real that is that all-encompassing ocean of love and that is an orienting element of our ability to actually navigate our lives from my perspective well yeah God created us in His image which means it's in his imagination which means it's imagery within his mind and instead in our arrogance we created a God in our image we're angry we're insane so we created a God to reflect us and and thereby manifest for ourselves a world that is contrary to that which he is right and also all of the ethnocentric versions of this God so a tri people create an ethnocentric model of their tribal mores culture ideas and then that's their God and that gives them justification to go to war with another people who have their God but a lot happens in between there there are many people who relate to what you were describing as an ethnocentric God who know better than to think that absolutely I don't think the Buddhist is thinking that the Divine is necessarily an asian-looking man with a Bel and so there are many prisms by which we view the divine all of those prisms are beautiful and you know I was in a p podcast recently with Father sha oair who's a Mystic Catholic which for some people is a bit of a contradiction already not to me and not to me either especially in that conversation and he had a vision where he actually had a vision of Yeshua and he actually asked did you really say that the only way to the father is through me and Yeshua told him he said yes I did and the only way through the to the father is through the Buddha and like the idea being that there's many ways that we can actually access this Universal Divine there is only one way and that is unconditional love and compassion it's that itself is like a room that has many names on the door and that one truth is reflected like you said in prisms mhm and um there are many names on the door but there really is only one one way and that is that we love and forgive one another right I did some research on the hundred great Wars that have been fought in history and so I think it was 33 34 of them were fought because people claimed that their God was somehow Superior to another God and then that gave them the justification so there's been a lot of problem with this idea that instead of looking through one particular Oculus at the one Divine we actually have our own claim on a certain type of God and it's and it gives us justification to Crusade or do whatever we else we want with another culture that has a different idea and so I think bringing God back into the universal form which all of the mystical traditions of these different religions get like whether it's the sufis or the mystical Tibetan Buddhists or the cabala the cabala you know rosac crucians everybody's kind of getting similar you know ideas just with their own unique lens on well this is not new though the the Mystic Traditions have been around uh from ancient times and every as you said every all of the great religious teachings have their uh mystical root uh the names that you mentioned including in Christendom uh St Teresa Vila [ __ ] shardan there have always been the Christian Mystics as well much like you were talking about the Mystic Catholic I don't think so much that we are all of a sudden coming up with something although in our arrogance we often think oh we're the first generation to get something we are remembering something we are reclaiming something and also we're reclaiming within the mainstream something that's always been there it just hasn't been on the internet you know what I'm saying there there have always been uh the Mystic traditions and of course the course of Miracles is in that lineage um the course not being a religion because I think you need to make a distinction with what you were just saying between religion and God you know even with Jesus there's a line in the course of Miracles where it says some bitter Idols have been made um around him who came only to be brothered to the world I don't blame God for the Hideous things that have been done in his name when Muhammad ATA when he was about to cut somebody slit somebody's throat says God is great I think most reasonable people realize God did not do that right yeah in in Father Shan O's book setting God free he actually puts God on trial and not to spoil the outcome of the trial but ultimately God says this wasn't me this was man's interpretation and actually like you can't you can't put this on me because actually the teachings that came through that's right and I mean clearly what you said is true some of the greatest evils in the world have been perpetrated uh by by religious institutions not by the experience of real uh religion which is uh rooted in the uh Latin word religio to bind back I love how in the course of Miracles there's also a line where it says many people conspire with God who do not yet believe in him so there are people who talk about God all the time and clearly we would say well that's not holy Behavior that's not love and then there are people who are so loving and beautiful and and healing and reparative in their lives and you say this is Holy work you're doing they say what are you talking about I'm an atheist it's not about it's not about belief the course says that this isn't about belief it's about experience and that the universal experience is what we're all going after and right now once again it's not just the prisms and the Rays from the from the great religious teachings but many people are getting there through secular means they they're agnostic or I they don't want to hear about the God part but they got there in therapy you know it doesn't I think that that universality that you were talking about even goes beyond not only is it not one particular religious language but even goes beyond religious language yeah it's holding a baby in your arms for the first time it's falling in love it's walking in nature it's beyond conceptualization its experience of our Oneness with something that is bigger than ourselves you've referenced of Course in Miracles a few times and I've read a lot of the great foundational texts and a lot of the mystical Traditions I'm in a deep study of the cabala currently and and very focused on you know deepening and deepening in that path but I also you know studied many paths but Course in Miracles is something that I own the book but I've actually never opened it and so I'm very curious for those who are like me who are aware of it have heard it referenced your understanding of what the general you know it's a I know it's a huge book and it's very it's very rich and to actually you could go levels and levels deep with this but if you were going to describe to the audience what the course in what A Course in Miracles is what it's Genesis was and what it's like overarching teachings are and how they have been important to you first of all your experience is very common many people will tell you I have the book I have it on my bookshelf but I haven't opened it up many people will have it next to their bed for years before they that uh before they have it there's something interesting I want the words near my head while I'm sleeping I just don't want to have to read it yet I'm just not ready to read it yet so that's a very common actually people have a lot of stories like that a course of Miracles is not a religion first of all uh it has been referred to as a self-study program of spiritual Psychotherapy it refers to itself as a psychological mind training and it's basically a course in forgiveness it's about dismantling a thought system based on fear and it's a training in dismantling the thought system based on fear that dominates this world and then accepting instead a thought system based on love which is 180° away from the thinking that dominates this world and really forms the only way to escape the insanity um that results and reflects results from and reflects the insanity of this world which is a path to a very real probability of global catastrophe yes I think one of the you know one of the teachings that's been transmitted to me by my brother uh Ted Decker who's a Christian Mystic himself and a in a famous author is he says often there is no fear and love and actually he puts those in the opposite Force love being this ultimately expansive force that is opening opening opening and fear being Contracting Contracting Contracting according to the Course in Miracles love is to fear what light is to Darkness Darkness is not a thing it's the absence of a thing and fear is not a thing it's the absence of a thing so the way to replace darkness is to turn on the light not to hit it with a baseball bat and try to analyze it away and the way to get rid of fear is to turn on the love where there is forgiveness there cannot be fear but also remember when you first asked me at the beginning of our conversation to describe God as I understand it one of the words was all encompassing so what the course of Miracle says is that what is all encompassing can have no opposite so when you're actually thinking without love you're actually not thinking you're hallucinating so this world that appears as contrary to God although Illusions are as powerful in their effects as is the truth I mean it's a three-dimensional reality and so forth while it is Manifest it is not ultimately real because only love is real and in any moment we're taught that in any moment that you will know that just be still and know that this isn't the Ultimate Reality this person loves you they just don't know it this person is innocent and pure love they just are so out of contact with that and they don't know In This Moment how to express that and get their needs met but if you just know it and remain awake to it it will literally remind them and also free you from being at the effect of that which you no longer believe is real anyway M so that's that's the essence in the course that only love is real nothing else exists I mean it exists in a three-dimensional reality but this is all an illusion or what Buddha called Maya mhm so help me help me understand this a little bit because to me it would seem that the absence of Love could be apathy but not necessarily fear it seems like something else would have to come in to actually take you from apathy despondence but you know first of all the two things about that first of all the course of Miracle says there are only two emot --- s the uh feminine Earth Force the young is the masculine Sky Force and it it is the intersection of the two uh that is Ultimate Reality and the Ultimate Reality of who we are or the Christ [Music] being I've always been a collector since I was a kid whether it was sports cards magic cards Comics stamps or coins and as I've gotten older I've transitioned to collecting original art I also believe in Precious Metals as one of the safest and most stable stores of wealth the impossibly cool thing about my new company Jesus ideologies have had a difficulty with that and I know that's you know just reading the synopsis of your book there is this idea of it's time all the new age spiritualist circles to like allow Jesus to reclaim reclaim his place in the in the kind of lexicon and in the understanding so talk to me about why you think that's important and also where from your perspective we got this kind of let's keep Jesus on the on the on the outskirts first of all I think you'll like my book because my book is very much about what you're saying um even when you said you don't call yourself a Christian the IDE of the Mystic Jesus the universal Jesus that is so emerging from the into the from the subconscious Waters at this point cannot be monopolized by a religion it cannot be monopolized by a club nobody gets to own the sun nobody gets to own the breeze and so the fact that ever since the early days of Christendom there has been this um uh confining of of Jesus within a path that became the ecclesiastical traditions of the church uh with their dogma and with their Dogma is not to be disrespected there is the same kind of revolutionary rethink that's going on about everything is going on everywhere including in religion and spirituality and including within the Christian tradition so this is not to in any way disrespect or disparage that there has been however from the earliest days uh after the uh birth and death of Jesus I don't know if you've ever read uh elain Pagel um the Gnostic Gospels I think You' probably like it a lot so since the Early Times there have been the mystics the gnostics who were uh literally and figuratively sort of driven into the Hills uh in the centuries and centuries ago that's why the discovery of the nagamati manuscripts the Dead Sea Scrolls and all that all those things were Council of Na so now many of us feel and not just within the new age or higher conscious movement I think this is a global phenomenon because this rethink is everywhere it's rethinking politics rethinking business rethinking Health rethinking the body rethinking the mind so of course we're rethinking religious and religion and spirituality and in all the great religions you're seeing the fundament what fundamentalism does you're you're seeing the evil Shadow that can come from that and you're also seeing uh the the reemergence um of of a universal sense of all of the these things and a lot of people the image I I use in in the book is like to many people Jesus had become like you imagine a big Museum and you're up on the third floor and there's this room it doesn't look like anybody's dusted and however long and there's this case over there and he's this thing locked up in a case and people are saying wait a minute why can't we just let him out of that and that's really how my book came to be written because my publisher said people are calling uh book sellers are saying people want books about Jesus that aren't specifically tied to Christianity so when you said you don't call yourself a Christian I'm Jewish and I have never felt as a student of the Course in Miracles that I was being asked to convert in terms of My Religion um interestingly enough and for the reasons that you said it was Christian friends who had the hard time for me it was like you know I was I was taught as a child nothing I was taught we don't read that book honey they read that Bible we read the other one MH and the only thing my mother ever told me about Jesus I don't know where she got this but I do remember her saying I think he was polite where she got this I have no idea anyway so once I realized I mean I saw the Christian language I had taken comparative religion classes in college so I'd read St Thomas aquinus I'd read St Augustine I had read Bonaventure I had read a lot of Christian Theology and could embrace it and be very excited about it but it was within an academic setting so my own personal belief system on any religious level was not but I saw the course of Miracles and it was no this is my personal life this is a cocktail party I was intrigued by it from the beginning but when I saw the Christian language I assumed it was you know a Christian book A year later I saw it again and at that point you read into the book a few pages it's very clear this is not a religious text there's no Dogma there's no Doctrine it's a psychological insight my many friends of mine who were Christian however at a lot of like no no no no no I was learning new things they had to unlearn a lot and they they came with all kinds of ambivalence so I always say there's something to offend just about anybody but that's what's happening today this is not this is not um uh this is not a Jesus and it is not these terms filtered through uh dogmatic or doctrinal institutional ecclesiastic um Concepts that's not what this is um the course of Miracle says Psychotherapy and religion are at their Peak the same thing we're talking about a healing of the mind yeah so you mentioned the the Gnostic texts and they talk about the Demi orgus and talking about the what the Demi orgus the demiurge which is this kind of willful willful force of deception yeah you know destruction fear creating fear generating but a kind of willful force in the Bible of course that's Satan hassatan the opponent the father of Lies so how do you approach that in your own life life dealing with these ideas that there's this Force Yeshua polarized on one side of pure forgiveness pure for compassion pure love and then this other Force right that is willfully intending deceit and sewing seeds of so the course of Miracle says you are totally free to think whatever you want to think you were an idea the mind in the mind of God all of the attributes of God are within you including Freedom the only difference between you is he created you you did not create him therefore you are free to think whatever you want to think what you cannot do however because nothing God created can be altered or destroyed what you cannot do is diminish the power of your thought wow so if you choose which we are all choosing every moment either consciously or unconsciously if you choose to think with love literally Miracles occur which means as long as there's love in a space the universe is self-organizing and self-correcting and we're going to understand each other and we're going to create something good for people and people are going to hear it and it's going to be all kinds of good things are going to happen but if you choose to enter the situation with anything but love you will deflect the Miracles that might otherwise that would otherwise have occurred mhm now a wonderful thing there is that the Miracles that could have occurred will be held in trust for you until you were ready to receive them meaning once you recognize oh I blew that by thinking un lovingly another situation will come up now it might seem to you well okay so you go into a situation and you weren't your best you were a little selfish you were a little self-referential you weren't really thinking about them okay it's not the worst thing in the world but that accumulat that level of withhold of love over and over and over again for millions of years the course says and what you have is an insane species mhm and so it is all coming from fear but to say that it's coming from Fear doesn't mean people shouldn't be held accountable and doesn't mean that there's not a way out of that right um so the ego the course says is suspicious at best and vicious at worst wor the point is there's no such thing as a neutral thought now that's really important because I think a lot of people and you see this in American society hey man I'm not I'm not trying to hurt anybody it's not enough to not being uh willing trying to hurt anyone if we are not proactively like if you wake up in the morning this is why you pray in the morning this why you do yoga in the morning it's why you meditate in the morning because you are taking control of your mind you are directing your conscious I want my thoughts this is my kingdom my thoughts I want my thoughts to go in the direction of love if I do not that same the power of my mind is still going to be active but if I'm not proactively placing it in the service of love it will be used to ex to project fear your mind is always at work your either every thought the course has takes you and everyone around you straight to heaven or straight to hell not as places we go after we die but as emotional states one emotional state arises from an awareness of our Oneness and inner peace and yeah things are good this is nice and the other emotional state is anxiety and fear and depression and angst and AA and that's how powerful we are and the course of Miracle says you achieve so little because you have undisciplined minds and discipline and disciple come from the same root just like when you go to yoga right you're training your your your you want to be in the correct position you want your muscles to go in the correct position it's like the yoga of the Mind what is the correct position don't just wake up in the morning go to social media and the news and the craziness of the day and let it eat your brain and then be surprised while you're depressed by noon your mind was not created to be at the effect of that assault your mind was was created to wake up every morning and say I am love and I'm here to extend my love mhm and that is the meaning of every moment but I was taught from the time I was a baby to see it differently so I have to unlearn the thinking of the world and then you discipline yourself when you go to the gym right after a certain age if I'm not working to keep my muscles up they're headed down there's physical gravity so there's also psychological and emotional gravity particularly intense today so if I'm not doing the repetitions doing whatever the anti-gravitational work then the gravity of anger the gravity of fear the gravity of depression the gravity of jealousy the gravity of of all the negative malstrom of what so prevalent today will take me down unless I work it it's no different than than physical exercise it'll it will work but you have to work it yeah the universe has been a ruthless teacher for me in this any action I've taken in fear has bound is bound in fear and is Bound for some kind of failure now you say that it has been similarly ruthless for everyone because the universe doesn't work any differently in your case in anyone else's case however most people are anesthetized the what the the anesthesia of and you've had some Awakening experiences so that you you you awaken from the anesthesia right but but there are so many ways yeah yeah we're human and have our moment obviously that that's part of understanding and mercy we show ourselves and each other but there are so many ways that we dull our uh our spiritual senses I think everybody's on a spiritual path but most people don't know it the course of Miracle says it's not up to you what you learn it's up to you only whether you learn through Joy or through pain so when it's time for you to learn something the opportunity to learn it get rid of that particular aspect of personality is not working uh whatever it is to hone yourself into the Divine actualization uh if you continue in a direction of lovelessness it will appear ruthless and that is what I think is um so sobering about this moment in our history as a species yeah and I think though I think something is happening I think this is an extraordinary moment because I think that I don't know anybody not going through stuff right now because it's almost like the universe is saying hurry up hurry up hurry up you've got to clear that part of your personality the only way we're going to make it is if all of us start ascending to some higher places in our personality like quickly and so we're all going through I think what we need to go through to be the people that we need to be uh in order to collectively --- 's why we're afraid of it because the ego mind is saying no you'll be you'll be unsafe you can't just make yourself vulnerable you can't just make yourself self defenseless you you've got to you've got to put your dukes up here you've got to protect yourself you've got to do me first don't you understand it's your self-hatred posing as your self-love so I know I know it is the ultimate mind [ __ ] that's what the ego is yeah so so of course it's it says you you can't just surrender and walk into a room and love everybody you'll never make any money you'll never have a life you'll never have relationships it's it's very dangerous out there and the ego is telling you that because the moment you look at the ego and go actually every time I've listened to you it's been worse rather than better once you even begin to question it the problem is it's instinctive we're taught these things from such an early time in our lives so that as the course says natural thinking feels unnatural to you unnatural thing feels natural to you you are brought up to instinctively for the judgmental thought the blaming thought the attack and the defense and the defense and that's why just like with everything else that's why you work that's why you pray that's why you meditate that's why you do the course that's why you do whatever your form of meditation or practice is to work your muscles to it's just I love the yoga image because it's like you've been sitting this way no sit this way you know all the energy in your body will be different well there's a correlative to that in oh poor me nobody loves me no why don't you I learned what I learned and I'm going to be a better woman now you'll have a completely different life depending on where your mind goes about the experience and interesting that you draw in the images of the body there's been actually pretty profound studies about how changing your posture like if you get into like a posture with your chest your chest up and your head up or some your arms out in a position of power your mind your thoughts your mind all things change whereas if you get in this kind of hunch slumped head down posture your actual thoughts and feelings will correlate to your body as well another actually just side tangent people who get so much Botox that they can no longer smile they've s they've found that messing with something it messes with their ability to actually experience the emotions correlated with the face actually moving into a proper full radiant smile right so there's there's elements here the between the correlation between body and mind too that in this cartisian dualism world that's trying to actually not only separate us from each other but separate the Mind spirit and body from each other it's all substrates of different densities and and and the organization of civilization mirrors that as well another body position that's interesting is this this is the wand this is direct vertical Ascent so Moses had a rod all of the wisd had wands the the um uh the Fairy Godmother had a wand she touches the pumpkin it turns us into a coach she touches the rags they turn into a beautiful ball gown she touches with the wand the mice they turn into Coachmen and notice it's always with light so the course of Miracle says light is understanding so that's your vertical Consciousness we're trained to always be on the horizontal but our power lies in the vertical and so this one is also very and for those listening not on video she's in a prayer pose with her hands you know in front of her chest I on Earth as it is in heaven not on Earth as it is in New York you know it's on Earth as it is in higher Consciousness not anything in the world that's I mean I'm it's evoking the image of someone in a prayer pose here versus someone pointing exactly you you you you over there you red you blue you this that you know all of this pointing is actually reinforcing this myth what Charles eisenstein calls the myth of Separation it is a it's an illusion of separation and nonetheless this Force this separate the separating force was part of God's design to allow us to give to have individual okay but somehow in some way we do have different bodies we are yes we are well let's talk about that moment okay let's talk about so the course of miracle says in uh you it happened millions of years ago in time as you know it which is interesting although in reality it never happened at all in reality it never happened at all because it's just a hallucination it it's referred to as a moment when the Son of God forgot to laugh and if you ask the course says if you start to ask well why did we ever do that why did we ever have a thought that was separate its response is to that's the kind basically it says that's the kind of question the ego would ask don't let questions of theology delay you go directly for the experience so the closest you can get to understanding why we ever separated ourselves from love is to ask yourself why are you doing it right now and even as I said that I I thought of a situation in my life that was for me this last one because uh I'm not going to call him no he can call me I'm not calling him this afternoon no so when I said that yeah that one was for you yeah and you know I think there's there's also you know there's a beauty in the unique art that we can express as separate incarnations of the one Divine Right There is a unique quality about us that the way that you speak and write is different than the way that anybody else can or the way that you can create art the way that I can write poems the way that I can sing or dance oroscope the course of Miracle says all of the children of God are special and none of the children of God are special and that's the Paradox and and it says that the people on the planet who have achieved the most this is really amazing to me the people on the planet who have achieved the most have achieved a fraction of what all of us are capable of yeah except for maybe those like Jesus who AR arguably actualized their potential to the fullest and so in this idea for me imitatio Christi to like imitate what would Jesus do is the more common way what would Jesus do is Jesus was Jesus all the way he became the most he was he actualized his potential to the fullest degree that he could possibly actualize and that's the calling is how do we actual how do you be the most Maryanne that you can be so that it merges in atic identity with the Divine so that your will and God's will align so he says in the course of Miracles and this is how I open the book he says I am in a state I don't he says I don't have anything that you don't have the only difference between us is that I don't have anything else I am in a state that is only potential in you now what the core says is having achieved that state the full actualization of the Christ mind uh Michelangelo was asked how do you create a statue he said I go into the Quarry I see this big piece of marble in my mind God has already created the pi God has already created David God has already created Moses my job is to get rid of the excess marble okay so all of us have with within us what Jesus has the difference between us is he has actually he has burned through anything not that Christ mind or perfect love but what the course says is having achieved that state he is then authorized by God should we request it because if we don't request it it's a it would be a violation of our free will but if we request it he is authorized to actually enter into our thought system he becomes a psychological guide so when you said just now what would Jesus do the the course of Miracle student wouldn't ask what he would do would say to him what should I do right right right right right right and because and he says my mind joined with your mind can shine away the ego a miracle is a Divine intercession from a thought system beyond our own that that he once again it's not an exclusive Jesus but he is actually the course says that in the moment that we had that first millions of years ago in time as we know it although in reality it never occurred at all in that moment because God is perfect and answers all problems the moment they occurred he couldn't Force us back to love because love does not force in that moment however the course says he created an eternal communication link between himself and his separated Sons it's an aspect of our Consciousness by whatever you call it Jesus is one embodiment of it to call on him is to call on the Holy Spirit to call on the holy spirit is to call on him there are other names and it's a bridge of perception from your Neurosis your craziness your judgment your blame to oh I get it it's not even about me I'm so glad okay I forgive him let's go to lunch right you there is someone and something that can guide you and he is that should you choose and then that that goes back to what we were talking about before that he is that evolutionary elder brother he is someone as the course says he lived on the Earth but thought only the thoughts of heaven and in him Heaven and Earth shall Heaven and Earth became as one so in the Bible when it says Heaven and Earth shall be as one that's our evolutionary potential now that's not the point is this it's not hard to believe in a room where everybody's being nice to everybody and when everybody's being nice everybody this isn't that hard to practice you know the issue is the moments when somebody's not being nice to you when there is Injustice uh when there are triggers when there's trauma and that's where the rubber meets the road MH and also for people like most of the people in this room that we remember that even if I'm not traumatized what about the people over there who are because they had a different birth Lottery am I going to turn my head it's it's just many many layers of all of this mhm I feel like it's you know it's also been a blessing for me to have you know because I've encountered these many traditions and also the figure of the Buddha and the figure of the Buddha I've had you know experiential encounters with and it's it's a similar idea but a different quality so where where Yeshua it was just this absolutely loving loving understanding like I even once you know shared all of my pain and all of my struggle and all my suffering and he said the most unbelievable miraculous thing he just looked at me and said me too oh and I was like oh God like it just floored me just weeping right and so similarly you know I actually encountered in a Darkness Retreat so I went in a Darkness Retreat six days isolated in darkness and it started to trigger Visions after day three I was having visions in the absolute black and I was really going through it because it brings up everything in the subconscious and all the struggles of the ego and I saw a vision of the Buddha come and appear and it was shocking I was like okay okay Buddha and Buddha just says to me why aren't you smiling oh and I go I go oh then then Buddha starts laughing and you go Buddha why are you laughing and Buddha goes why aren't you laughing that's beautiful that's so and it was so like that's so Prof I was like oh yeah and he he was just reminding me of the choice like it's available okay so with the first thing you said uh and the course of Miracles points this out too the most profound line in the Bible is Jesus wept and from a metaphysical perspective something like the course you know we don't look at you know you were bad Jesus you suffer I'll feel better what kind of God would look at it that way that he suffered so that you'll be forgiven by God that's not what the course says but the course does say that the crucifixion was a radical teaching example there is nothing you can go through that he doesn't understand yes because otherwise if he says love them and you could say what would you know right me too right now about the happiness thing when I was a younger woman I remember reading these books on Buddhism and it said the point is you want to be happy on the day you die your last breath you want to be happy and I thought why should that matter so much but you see that differently as you get older and the coring Miracle says the purpose of your life is to be happy because when we are aligned with that unconditional love I mean who hasn't in those moments all of us have had those moments you're holding a baby you're holding a lover sexual it's a nature whatever and you're in total Bliss and you go oh my God this is heaven yes yeah yes yes and I was uh I I spoke with uh um then practitioner shin xeny and he was I asked him okay so what would be your what would be your guidance to guide you on a path towards greater happiness Greater Joy and he said well I would start smiling and then see how far it can spread and that was and that was that's so good it's difficult to say f you when you're smiling yeah totally totally like start smiling and see how far I can go that's great so the smile comes before the happiness in in uh in his model and it's it's interesting how the distillation of these things it's it gets really simple but in that moment when you're contracted and frustrated the last thing you want to do is breathe or dance or smile but if you have the will to do it the truth is simple but l --- everybody's cup of tea but I think people would leave and say she's a decent person no doubt no doubt uh so but once again that goes back to everything you and I were saying wow what an ego burn that is you know I would think to myself in terms of all the spiritual things just think who I'll be if I can be a person who doesn't care wow so I had to go through all the things that you and I were talking about including enough is enough enough is enough tell me about that and well I had a choice I had a choice marann you can play it one of two ways you can sit with those [ __ ] and what they did to me um poor me uh there's a bunch of misogynist why was everybody protecting Bobby but not me including in our community you know um you can go there and that choice is the path to being a bitter old woman your choice M or you can work it you can go into that cave and you can take responsibility for your part where you were not as Savvy as you should have been where you were not as sophisticated as you should have been where you should have known better where you allowed yourself and if you will atone for your own mistakes and forgive others you're going to grow from this you're going to actually be a better woman um your heart your you you'll be better those are your only two choices you're either going to do the work atone for your own mistakes and forgive others for theirs and be better on the other end and then towards the end of that was when I read the obstacle is away which was really helpful so please tell him thank you for that book if you know him because uh everything had been the total spiritual conceptualization you know for me and my own you know trying to practice what I preach um but then that book was very helpful and then and and I didn't want to be a person you know when you have stuff like this in in in uh public then you know I don't want to be someone that I would be in a room like this and people would leave and go a shame about her she's really better you know it's like I don't want to be that person yeah you want to be the person who's grown from all become you know I'm not like at 100% but I uh it's funny that one like I'm not calling him he can call me that's literally today um uh and I think that we're all going through things that are you know my friend Mary morrisy I used to be a minister and she said there's an old Christian saying there is no spot where God is Not uh there's learning there's growth so much would have should have could have but burning through all of that and then deciding you know how how can this make me a better person MH and also I have some I have to tell you I have some satisfaction I was right the whole time I was everything that everybody saying oh this is what the Democratic party should have stood for is what I was saying and I knew during the time that there were people in that Universe you know keep the lid on it don't let her be out there you know they said I was a joke because they knew I wasn't M and we got almost 500,000 votes so given how much suppression of the campaign there was that means that everybody heard me right I remember a wonderful night here in Austin so um you know there is that sense um that anything you know what do I say you can be bitter you can be better if if you had to I mean there's so much so much that you just shared and it was actually you know is deeply moving to me to feel it because we each the more we get our the more we get out there the more we share our truth the more we stand for something the more we'll be attacked it's just kind of uh the way our current culture and its sickness is to a certain degree but a lot of people are dealing with this you just if you're political you you deal with it in the in the most exponential IED form in my career in this field of spirituality I never felt that my being a woman limited my options in any way I never misogyny was a word but it wasn't an experience for me I uh never felt among men any different than women that I was perceived in some Twisted way because I was a woman in the political field the things that were said about me that they would never have said about a man the stories the demeaning the mockery the disparaging and this is a big issue for me because I hope that next time somebody Saun us out there particularly among women there's so much internalized misogyny that a lot of that came from women but I was very disappointed by some of the people including in our field mhm who wouldn't just publicly say you know I don't know what you think of our politics but like I've known her for 25 or 30 years and she's not that person stand for your [ __ ] friend yeah and your sisters particularly yeah but what they do is they make somebody radioactive right and so then people are afraid well if I say something in support of her I'll be radioactive too and that might you know I'll get fewer Clicks in my brand protection and it goes back to the selfishness of the ego over the service to the greater whole and Truth goodness Beauty value value itself yeah I think this is now the time where we're all being called if we want to bring about this Evolution that is necessary I think you call it homo divinicus or homo yeah yeah homo divinicus yeah so this from from the next Evolution this is a part of it we have we have to allow ourselves to be digitally crucified to whatever degree we are so that we can Al also go through that transformation but also support what we really what our heart calls us to do yeah the course of Miracle says the resurrection is the return of your right mind we all are getting there one aha one aha moment at a time I think and this is where I think you and I it's not just about Trump it's about the whole thing let's have faith here the course of Miracle says God's Will has never not been done it's that old you know in the traditional reading of the Bible there's this sense of Armageddon and Armageddon is this Great War and uh after the Great War there will be a thousand years of Peace but that great war is indicative of profound Global destruction okay so if we look at it from a metaphysical perspective your uh getting over cancer was your Armageddon your divorce was your Armageddon your bankruptcy was your Armageddon your going through whatever you went through was your Armageddon your was was whatever yours we're all going through these where the war in within us which actually isn't even a war because light does not fight back it just is right and you achieve some peace and wisdom on the other end of it and the person who had to get sober achiev some peace and wisdom on the other end of it and the person who went got bank went bankrupt achieve peace and wisdom on the other side of it so the idea now is let's all we're going through these crucifixions and then at the end we can pull the accumulated wisdom you have some wisdom you have some wisdom you have some wisdom you have some wisdom you have some wisdom you have greater maturity you know I've been saying it for so long this is not a time for men to be boys this is not a time for women to be girls don't don't just I I say to audiences all the time I say enough with it are you okay and we should be saying to one another what incredible thing are you doing now how can I help m and that's what I think is the self-organizing nature of of the universe including in Civilization we're being drawn together with people on our strength and so we can bypass the global catastrophe yes we can bypass that I've been through enough of a catastrophe you've been through enough you've been through enough and we can collectively we don't need a m majority we just need a critical mass yep and the whole thing will turn and this is where Buddha comes in because if we do that will die happy yeah yeah that's this you know the in the Lakota Traditions which I've been blessed to be able to sit and Lodge with them and hear their songs and you know have some of the elders on my podcasts and listen to their wisdom but the that attitude of you know it's often condensed as today is a good day to die but the real attitude it came from crazy hores nakula Wong which is I'm ready for whatever is next which is a fullness of life and a fullness of living and having said I love you to everybody you need to say I love you to to live in a state where you've expressed yourself so fully that if it is your day nak I'm ready for whatever is next oh that's so beautiful will you write down those words for me text them or something I'm ready for whatever comes next two things come up for me Carl Yong said the failure to deal with the topic of death robs the second half of Life of its meaning o mhm yeah the other one was an experience I had I had a best friend named Richard and I think it was after I ran for Congress or something and Richard had always said to me you do anything political I don't want any part of it he had always said that to me so it wasn't like news but he wasn't he W and he was true to his word so he called me I think it was in a hotel room and we talked on the phone and we started having an argument that you call me now and you weren't here for me and blah blah blah and I can't remember exactly what he said but we were like best friends so you know saying [ __ ] you Richard wasn't beat whatever and we got off the phone I was really angry by about it and I almost emailed [ __ ] you Richard and I knew he would know it you know I loved him but even that was said I'm not going to do that you know you're never supposed to do do that the next morning I got a call he died if I had done that how I would have felt and I didn't do it yeah cuz that was no don't do that but I had that thought right and I'd always read never you know with married couples never go to bed without you know saying I love you but I'm so grateful and that that that has always been very meaningful to me clean it up now clean it up now you never know what's going to happen you never know who's going to disappear you never know and I think partly getting older does that too your friends start getting sick your friends people are dying so whatever comes next may I be clear enough that I can not only be receptive to what comes next but not be carrying the baggage of my own unloving thought and behavior M yeah beautiful beautiful this has been such a pleasure oh you too it's great to talk to you thank you it's been so great to talk to you is there anything you know we've talked about your your book that's out uh the mystical Jesus yeah and anything else that you'd like to to share with people any final thoughts or any kind of final things where people could dive a we've all heard people say that if you have a dream a every character in the dream is an aspect of yourself so like what I I do in in that particular book that I'll be doing on that day is every aspect and that's true of the Old Testament true of any Scripture is an aspect of yourself Mary is an aspect of yourself Joseph is an aspect of yourself she's the divine feminine he's the Divine masculine Herod is an aspect of yourself mhm the three kings are an aspect of yourself and the idea of course in that book is that just as Jesus was a man the historical read on all that is that Jesus was a man 2,000 years ago there's nothing here about disrespecting that but as we go deeper we realize that he is alive now he says in the course prove that I didn't die in vain by proving that I did not die that every moment our heart are opened in love he is Born Into the world and so just like you know when Carl Young said if you go deep enough into your mind and deep enough into mine that there are mental images that we all share so when you look at the Christ mind from a metaphysical perspective it's if you go deep enough into your mind and deep enough into mind we all share the same mind and that's the metaphysical meaning of there's only one begotten son so I hope that um I don't know I hope that that you know this book is nothing there nothing here that's like I mean this is part of a long lineage obviously as you know so um I just hope there's something in the conversation and the inquiry that helps somebody yeah no doubt and this the idea of bringing Christ back to Christmas I think is also really important you know I think we're missing big opportunities we've been mindless about holiday we could be mindful about holidays yeah I'm I'm with that 100% let's put real meaning back in all these rituals birth death Christmas Easter you know let's they already exist even Valentine's Day which is so commercialized let's make it something oh I love that one let's
