Gabrielle Roth introduces The Wave, her form of ecstatic dance built on five rhythms — flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness — and frames each as a teacher and a gateway to the soul. The instruction is to bring whatever is felt into the dance rather than to perform technique.
