Healing Migraines with the Silva Method

A recent Silva Method graduate describes how the training eliminated her chronic migraines. Stephen Dobos interviews her about what shifted in her awareness and how the techniques produce physical results through the mind.

foreign [Music] hello I'm pleased to have you here on uh on a quick video because you you were just a recent graduate of the Silva method in Toronto and uh in the last conversation our last conference call you were sharing a little bit about the experience that you've been having since you finished the course could you tell us a little bit about what came up for you uh well I found um first thing just uh completing the course it was the most um relaxing four weeks of my life with all that meditation which was wonderful and I found that it really had um quite a profound effect on my just my daily waking hours in terms of um just being really calm and being feeling like I'm more am in the flow of things and finding that my my energy which often you know during lockdown during this time has been very almost Manic and I found that everything just just dropped and I found a very calm flow to uh just a just a guide through which was really um which was really great during this time so it was very beneficial that way so this is the third lockdown that you've been experiencing I think it's the third or fourth you know after I've lost counts I have no idea anymore and and I think there's a word that you used earlier um the word flourishing was the word I heard you say yes which is really interesting I find that um you know a few of the things that I've learned in this program one being canceled cancel cancel uh that has helped a lot with this sort of negative narrative and storytelling that I find that goes on in my head a lot of it you know being negative and cancel cancel has really helped stop that and put an end to that and I found that um my thoughts has be have become more positive and just amazing things have been happening in in my life a lot of positive things since that has has started so um one example is out of nowhere where I'm working um my employer decided to give me more money which was just amazing I didn't ask for it I wasn't expecting it um something else I wanted to purchase a large piece of equipment um that I need for my Pilates teacher training um I just thought oh you know what I'm not sure if I can afford this it's too much money and all of a sudden it was marked down four thousand dollars and I was thinking and I'm thinking what's going on this is amazing so I thought I'm not even gonna question it I'm just going to accept it and just um you know follow follow that flow so basically you asked and then you received it yeah exactly so I asked I let it go and then it just it just showed up which was great and how is that different from the way you were before um usually it's just stress it's just plain stressing about something you know I can't have this or I don't have the money or I don't guess it's always you know that that negative narrative that that goes through my mind so uh cancel canceling all that has helped a lot just um it's just made me more chill you know and I'm I'm can be a very high strung person so I just have more chill um more chill in my life that's for sure which has been helpful chill's cool chill is great chill is where it's at that's that's for sure so yeah so covid for you then has not been a stressful painful challenging no no it hasn't it hasn't at all it is I am flourishing which is really amazing and as I said earlier I feel felt a little guilty about that you know when I think about other people and and uh you know friends that are just going through really difficult times in different parts of the of the country and you know the world so um so I thought you know I'm not going to feel guilty about it anymore I'm just going to accept it you know and hopefully my abundance will rub off on other people you know and I can share some of that with with my friends and and family yeah and creating and allowing yourself to have that actually flows exactly exactly so yeah it's been great I've Loved this program so much and I'm actually really sad that it's that the four weeks are over and I'm like what else can I take what's the next program honestly because I find that um yeah it's really helped me and it's it's it's funny how every day I notice something different or something more or I've just taken it it's just gone up a notch you know and it's interesting when I've done the three two one method um the centering exercise where you know you think well how do I know if I'm going to be an alpha like I read all the time you know people's comments how do I know and what's going to happen and you think that there's a certain um you know thing that happens like you know voice inside your head okay now Nicole you're an alpha but um it's funny how I've read that you know you'll just know you know and so far a few times um it just happened and I just I just intuitively knew wow I'm in I'm an alpha like it's just an amazing amazing feeling I had that happen a couple times last week where I was just like oh my gosh I can't believe it my mind went completely blank I did not have one thought and I felt completely at peace at one with everything and I really couldn't feel my body and I just enjoyed that and I thought wow okay here I am just gonna I'm not gonna question it I'm not going to overthink it I'm just going to go with it flow with it and then you know come out with come out of it when when it's time you know my my body or my mind will let me know um went to come up but that was a real treat I really enjoyed that that was totally unexpected so at least now I know um you know I can get there so no pressure no pressure to try to get back into it again you know which I try not to put too much pressure or expectations on myself so I think that that's one of the um main things uh that I thought for myself when I started this course was I'm not going to set high expectations and just sort of go you know go with the flow and see see where it leads me where it takes me so which has been amazing so what I'm hearing is that there's you've really allowed it to be an experience yes exactly yeah it's been great so it's like I said and I've been trying some of the other exercises the um I suffer a great deal from migraines so uh and sometimes they last for three or four days and so I've been practicing uh when I get the migraine the the exercises for um getting rid of them yeah headache control which has been really helpful and I've been able to get rid of of my migraines and what's really interesting is when I go into when I go into level I actually before I even start the exercise I can feel my migraine already lifting and I actually feel it start to move and it always goes to one side of my my head and um yeah it's just amazing and so a few times I've gone down into the laboratory if it's it's there and I can't quite get rid of it I'll go into the laboratory and I'll just imagine a vacuum cleaner just you know sucking the rest of it out which it's um really helpful but uh I also find that with um when I'm not feeling well um if I've got stomach ache I have stomach issues that I also um have problems with and I find when I go into um you know when I go down three two one that it starts to lift right away which is really amazing so I've had really great results with that in terms of migraines or any stomach upset that's been great so your migraines you say would last three days the last three days sometimes yes and I've just learned to function and I try not to take any any medication for them but um yeah it's amazing how I'm able to you know when I'm meditating now move it and concentrate on moving it to one side and then eventually just pulling it pulling it right out so from three days they've decreased to what to how long yeah they um for like a day wow a day and a half and they're not as severe which is great yeah and that was what six weeks you started the course yeah yeah exactly which has been amazing so for how many years have you had the migraines um I've had them they started about I'd say about five or six years ago and they've been just getting progressively worse so um yeah so this has been I mean it's wonderful when you can use something other than you know Pharmaceuticals because I mean they're not really safe to take all the time right so but yeah it's been great oh wow excellent yeah yeah it's been great well thank you so much for sharing is there anything oh you're welcome that you want to share that has come up for you no I'm looking I'm just really looking forward to where this is taking me every time I do something or try a different exercise um something else you know something else happens I find with the mirror of the mind I started um doing that more um a really interesting thing happens is that my hands start to levitate and lift without me actually moving my hands and then they come forward as if they're trying to manipulate what I have pictured in my in my mind so that was really interesting I started you know doing that so that was that was unexpected yes I'm excited it's just so much I'm trying not to uh get too overwhelmed with oh I gotta try this and then I gotta try that and you know just just you know lower my expectations and just uh yeah just stay on uh just just stay on a schedule you know with doing trying to get something done every day or do something every day um but yeah the the three to one method is has been really amazing I love it so if there was if there was one thing that you'd want to share with other people who are watching you now what would that thing be what would that um how the court oh how the course has helped me or a piece of advice about the course um foreign think it's really open it's really important to stay open just have an open mind I think that's really important and any preconceived notions or expectations you have to just put them just put them to the side and um just say yes live in yes yes yes you know which I think is really important anyways um you know in daily life so but I think that that's really important not to uh um of a preconceived notion of of what you're going to do or what's going to happen and just uh just follow just follow the road and see where it leads you right and have no expectations and just see what happens because uh yeah you'll be pretty pretty surprised and amazed for sure if you would like to watch more videos
