A guided meditation in the Silva Method tradition that uses a visualization of a whiteboard divided into negative and positive thoughts. Stephen Dobos walks listeners through replacing limiting thoughts one by one to shift mental patterns toward optimism.

in this meditation what we're going to do is I'm going to take you into that meditation the mental house cleaning meditation and I'm going to guide you through that imagining with your eyes closed you have this big whiteboard in front of you and you have a pack of Post-it notes in one hand and a big thick marker in the other and you're going to draw a line down the center of this whiteboard and on the left side of the board you're going to write down one negative thought per Post-it and put it up on the left side of the Whiteboard and then you're going to do you're going to cross out that big Post-It note and on new blank Post-it notes you're going to write new positive thoughts and paste it to the right side of that negative thought and you'll create a multiple number of positive Post-it notes which you will replace those which will replace that negative thought with and we're going to do this for three different negative thoughts does that make sense okay so I'm going to walk you through it we're going to go in and meditate like we did in the previous session this will be a bit longer meditation and then I'm going to walk you through this process and then we're going to finish that in about 18 minutes so we'll be finishing up the meditation around 8:40 or so all right ready to go okay so if you found that you fell asleep in the previous meditation you might want to sit up or sit up a little more straight it'll keep you more present um but if you do fall asleep again then just come to our next one on the following Monday all right I'm going to put on some audio in the background you'll begin to hear it shortly may not be at the loudest remember that every thought that we have is like a direction it's an instruction to the brain and the brain's job is to take those instructions and to fulfill on them period so let us begin take a deep breath exhale and close your eyes now inhale and tense your body hold that tension exhale and relax inhale once again and as you do so feel your whole body inhaling and tensing the body body up to your shoulders your neck head arms fingers fists exhale and relax inhale once again and feel your toes calves knees thighs buttocks abdomen chest throat jaw tensing exhale and relax now you're you're going to go deeper in relaxation and relax each part of your body from head down to your toes relax your scalp relax your forehead relax your eyes and the muscles around your eyes relax your face relax your jaw your tongue relax your throat relax your neck relax your shoulders relax your upper arms your forearms and your hands relax your back and the muscles along your spine all the way down to the coxic relax your chest externally and the organs internally the heart the lungs the muscles the ribs relax your abdomen externally and internally the intestines the stomach even the liver kidneys and so forth relax your hips and feel your hips relaxing and loosening up relax your thighs your knees relax your calves relax your ankles feet toes pose relax the soles of your feet this is your physical relaxation level to enter a deeper mental relaxation level practice visualizing tranquil and passive scenes imagine a quiet summer day as you lay on the grass in a field gazing up at the sky or imagine yourself lying on the beach feeling the waves washing your feet and the hot sand ring into your body from Below or perhaps a more active relaxing scene for you is hiking slowly in the forest hearing the wind rustle the leaves hearing the sound of animals scurrying in the foliage maybe an active and passive scene for you this is your mental relaxation level I'm now going to count from 10 to 1 and you will go deeper and deeper at every countdown 10 9 8 feel going deeper 7 6 five deeper and deeper 4 3 two deeper and deeper one you are now at a deeper healthier level of Mind deeper than before whenever you are at this level of the mind you're more relaxed and More in tune with your highest intelligence intuition this is where manifestation begins in this relaxed State now imagine a large whiteboard in front of you a pack of Post-it notes in one hand and a thick marker in the other draw a vertical line down the center of the board at the top of the left column right negative thoughts and at the top of the right column write better thoughts one thought at a time write a frequently thought negative thought on the first blank posted Note One posted at a time tear it off and place it on the board in front of you in the left column one thought at a time write a second frequently thought negative thought on the second blank Post-it Note One posted at a time ter it off and place it on the board in front of you in the left column under the first negative thought one thought at a time write a third frequently thought negative thought on the third blank posted Note One posted at a time tear it off and place it on the board in front of you in the left column under the second negative thought now mentally read out the first negative thought draw a big X over the negative Post-It note and say to yourself mentally cancel cancel now on a new blank post to note write a new positive or better feeling thought and paste it in the right column to the right of the first negative thought continue adding new positive thoughts one posted at a time to counter the first negative thought and paste it to the right of the first negative thought creating a bunch of positive Post-it notes take your time let us continue now mentally read out the second negative thought draw a big X over the negative posted note and say to yourself mentally cancel cancel now on a new blank posted note write a new positive or better feeling thought and paste it in the right column to the right of the second negative thought continue adding new positive thoughts one posted at a time to counter the second negative thought and post it to the right of the second negative thought creating a bunch of positive posted notes let us continue now mentally read out the third negative thought draw a big X over the negative Post-It note and say to yourself mentally cancel cancel now I want a new blank post a note write a new positive or better feeling thought and paste it in the right column to the right of the third negative thought continue adding new positive thoughts one posted at a time to counter the third negative thought and paste it to the right of the third negative thought creating a bunch of positive Post-it notes now imagine you are in your home and you take the first bunch of positive Post-it notes and paste it into an area of your home that you frequent often and will see regularly it could be the washroom mirror the back of the bedroom door the refrigerator door and so on when you have done so review each posted Note One posted at a time remember this feeling let us continue now imagine you take the second bunch of positive Post-it notes and paste it into a second area of your home you freak qu regularly and will see often in your day any area will do when you have done so review those Post-it notes one posted at a time remember this feeling let us continue now imagine you take the third bunch of Post-it notes and paste it into a third area of your home you frequent often and will see regularly when you have done so review those Post-it notes and remember the feeling now imagine you are in your home and going to sleep you are now asleep it is now time to wake up you awaken from your sleep and begin to get ready for your day as you go about your morning you come across the first set of Post-it notes you stop and review them allow yourself to experience the feeling you continue in you you continue in your morning routine and imagine seeing the second bunch of Post-it notes you posted into your home you stop and review them allow yourself to experience the feeling you continue in your morning routine and imagine seeing the third bunch of Post-it notes you posted into your home you stop and review them allow yourself to experience the feeling now imagine yourself going about your day and observe how this new thinking affects your day and affects the outcomes that you have created review the interactions you have with others review the experiences review the outcome of the projects you are working on review the drive or commute what is different observe for yourself and remember this feeling whenever you are at this level of the mind you're more relaxed and More in tune with your highest intelligence intuition this is where manifestation begins in a relaxed state I will now count from 1 to five and make a sound with my fingers at that time you will open your eyes be wide awake feeling fine and in perfect health feeling
